The area encompassed by the Sand Canyon Home Owners Association (SCHOA) has been subdivided into 10 Zones for purposes of communicating emergency related information and assigning an area to neighborhood volunteer Zone Leaders. There are usually multiple Zone Leaders in each Zone.
Prior to an emergency, Zone Leaders are a resource of emergency preparedness information for their neighbors. New residents are provided with a packet containing useful emergency related information.
Each Zone Leader is equipped with a radio, which is used in an emergency to communicate real time emergency information in their Zone to SCHOA Incident Commanders (ICs) and other Zone Leaders, and receive emergency information from ICs and other Zone Leaders.
These Zone Leaders participate in monthly radio net checks to insure all equipment is functioning properly and to practice radio procedures.
